Day 1
Colombo – Kandy (approx. 2hr 30 mins)
As soon as you touch down at Bandaranaike International
Airport in Colombo, your journey will officially begin. Warm tropical breezes
and the enticing scents of regional specialties will meet you as you leave the
airport. From there, you’ll travel in comfort to Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural
capital. Stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage on the way there to see
rescued elephants who were either orphaned or wounded in the wild. After that,
you may discover more about the spices for which Sri Lanka is known by visiting
the Mawanella Spice Garden. Finally, you can settle into your hotel in Kandy
for the night.
Day 2
Kandy
Start out your day with a trip to one of the holiest Buddhist sites in the world, the Kandy Temple of the Tooth Relic. The temple’s architecture, sculptures, and scenery will leave you in amazement. Visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden next to see some very unique plants and animals from throughout the world.
Day 3
Kandy – Bentota (approx. 2 hrs 30 mins)
After finishing breakfast, you’ll continue on to Bentota, a picturesque seaside town with white sand beaches and a clear blue ocean. Stop off in Kitulgala for an adrenaline-pumping day of white-water rafting on the route. You may relax at your hotel in Bentota after all your explorations.
Day 4
Bentota
You’ll get to visit the beautiful mangrove forests, lagoons, and islands along the world-famous Madu River today. Then you should check out the Turtle Hatchery, a one-of-a-kind conservation initiative set up to protect the dwindling sea turtle population. Get some much-needed relaxation at your hotel in the afternoon.
Day 5
Bentota – Colombo (approx. 1Hr.)
On your last day of travel, you should spend some time discovering the exciting metropolis of Colombo. The National Museum is a great place to learn about Sri Lanka’s history and culture. The next stop is the Gangaramaya shrine, a Buddhist shrine with equally impressive architecture and a long and storied past. Then, go for a stroll around Beira Lake, where the well-known Seema Malaka temple sits on a small island in the water. In the afternoon, you may visit the historic sites of Colombo Fort, Independence Square, Viharamahadevi Park, and Galle Face Green. At last, treat yourself to a little retail therapy on Crescat Boulevard, home to a wide variety of upscale stores. Once you’ve had your fill of sightseeing and shopping for the day, head back to your hotel for a good night’s rest.
Day 6
Departure from Colombo
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel on your last morning there before you check out. Then, you’ll drive a private vehicle to the Colombo airport for your journey back to the States. As you soar above the breathtaking island, you’ll reflect on the incredible journey you just took and the lifelong memories it has given you.
