8 Days Sri Lanka Tour from Colombo (7Night 8Days)
Day 1
Colombo – Dambulla (approx. 2 hr 30 mins)
Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo is the first stop on the journey. The trip to Dambulla takes around 2.5 hours from there, therefore you will be picked up there by car. Visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a safe haven for abused and abandoned elephants, on the way there. You may see the gentle giants being cared for in their natural habitat, including feeding, bathing, and grooming. Spend some time visiting an elephant orphanage and then go to Dambulla, where you’ll spend the night at a hotel.
Day 2
Dambulla
The next day will be spent discovering Dambulla and the surrounding area. The World Heritage Site of Sigiriya Rock Fortress is the first stop on the tour. The fortification sits atop a 200-meter-high rock and is encircled by verdant trees on all sides. Amazing historical engineering and architecture may be seen in the frescoes and ruins that still stand today. Next, you will proceed to Minneriya National Park to see wild elephants and other animals in their native environment following their visit to Sigiriya.
Day 3
Dambulla – Kandy
On day three of your trip, you will make the two-hour drive from Dambulla to Kandy. Further, you’ll make a pit break at the famously fragrant Matale Spice Garden on the route. You may stop by to learn about and buy some of the many spices and herbs used in traditional Sri Lankan cooking. As soon as you reach Kandy, plan to go to the ancient Buddhist shrine known as the Kandy Shrine of the Tooth Relic, which is home to a tooth relic of the Buddha. Later that day, take in a cultural display with authentic Sri Lankan music and dancing.
Day 4
Kandy – Nuwara Eliya
Today, you will leave Kandy and go to Nuwara Eliya, which is around two hours away. The Peradeniya Botanical Garden, one of the biggest in Asia, will be a stop along the journey. Plants and trees from all across the globe are represented here. You will also see the stunning Ramboda Falls, which drop from a height of 109 meters. Further, check into your hotel upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya and spend the remainder of the day lounging about in the refreshing mountain air.
Day 4
Nuwara Eliya
Spend your next day in Nuwara Eliya, one of Sri Lanka’s key tea-growing districts, where you will see a tea mill and plantation. The best teas in the world are made here, and visitors can learn everything about the process. Gregory Lake, a beautiful lake surrounded by forested hills, is another destination. For the night, make your stay in the hotel.
Day 5
Nuwara Eliya- Bentota
After breakfast, you will leave Nuwara Eliya and make the 3.5-hour trip to Bentota. Kitulgala Water Rafting, an exciting adventure sport that includes navigating the rapids of the Kelani River, is located along the route. Bentota is a beachfront village where visitors may kick back and enjoy the sand and surf.
Day 6
Bentota
Cruise through the mangroves and marshes there on day seven of their trip. Here, you will be able to see many different species of birds and other wildlife that call this area home. To understand more about the conservation efforts being made to save the nesting beaches of Sri Lanka’s critically endangered sea turtles, you will also visit a turtle hatchery.
Day 7
Bentota – Colombo (approx. 1 hr. 30 mins)
On the last day, you will leave Bentota for Colombo, a trip of around 1.5 hours, on the last day of the vacation. You will be sent to the airport in Colombo from whence depart for your home.
